Entombed Image

You were petrified for a long period of time. You might've been frozen by a Basilisk in a swamp, by a Medusa in a temple, or by a Cockatrice in a field, whatever it was, it was for a very long time. You've watched events moved, settlements tower and crumble for years you've stood still waiting and now by some miracle you're free. The things you've seen are clear and vivid, you're aware of how much time has passed and though your memories before your petrification are lost and you have no clue of your past life, all you can do is start anew.

Petrified Spirit

After to becoming a petrified, you feel part of yourself is still trapped somewhere in the past. You find it hard to form any real attachments to others in fear you'll lose them and forget them through being petrified again. Choose a Petrifying event where you were turned to stone or roll one on the Petrifying Events table. To determine how long you were petrified for (or you can choose another event that kept you suspended from reality e.g., you were sent to the astral plane and the ever-changing magic prevented you from aging, you were reincarnated for something you did but have no memories as the cost) you can state how long you want to be petrified for or use the following equation: 4d4x50.

d8 Petrified Spirit
1 You were petrified in a valley full of stone by a medusa where a temple once stood. You were there till an apothecary found you and cured you of your petrification.
2 You were petrified by a basilisk in a swamp where a hag cured you and kept you prisoner until she was killed by an adventuring party.
3 You were petrified in your sleep by a wizard who kept you in a room with other human-like statues until after years of his death the tower crumbled from lack of upkeep. You were the only statue to survive and somehow were unpetrified after the towers falling.
4 Stone giants took you and turned you to stone by unknown means but after decades of being hung on a wall the cave, from which they dwelled, was abandoned and being left to crumble the magic on you dissipated allowing you to escape.
5 You were jumped by a pair of Cockatrice who turned you to stone before killing you. Slowly a settlement was built around you and you were the centerpiece watching the rise and fall to decay. Eventually, years later, looters came and accidently spilled an uknown potion on you which magically reversed your petrification.
6 You thwarted the efforts of a bitter noble/royal who casted hexes on you and turned you to stone. You were found in their descendants garden years later where the court wizard freed you and has kept an eye on you ever since.
7 A paranoid beholder, believing you were a polymorphed great wyrm, petrifies you and puts you on display in its' lair. A brave paladin slayed the beholder and while healing himself with a greater restoration spell accidently ended your petrification.
8 You were brought to the elemental plane of earth where an earth elemental encased you in its' stone body effectively petrifying you until Grumbar cast the earth elemental away and sent you back to the material plane. You still wonder why they showed you mercy

People talk right through you, and you seem as if you're reimagining a terrible horror again and again. Though they might feel uncomfortable, people of all status and class will extend you every courtesy and do their utmost to help you. d8 Personality Trait
1 Relationships can be forgotten, they are finite.
2 Reading keeps me calm. I don't know why.

6 I've seen the dangers that lurk when a breathing soul isn't there to witness them.
7 People look upon me as a victim, I see myself as being a torn out page placed in another book.
8 I prayed to the divines for freedom, yet they stayed silent. It was only when I was silent that help came.
