A Spirit Detective is chosen by unseen deities to protect non-demonic beings (excluding tieflings) from demons and prevent their intrusion into our world. Gifted with supernatural awareness, you navigate the realms between life and death, banishing malevolent entities and safeguarding the mortal realm from the encroaching darkness. Guided by the enigmatic will of death, you stand as a vigilant defender against the infernal forces that seek to exploit the vulnerabilities between worlds. However there's a catch. There can only be one Spirit Detective at a time. Once that Spirit Detective dies, another one is chosen. Only people with the "good" alignment may use this background.
