As a Spartan your life was harsh from the day you were born.If you were a boy your proportions and size would be judged by the law above the cold narrow ridge on the morning light of your first day. If worthy, you will be taken from your family, at the tender age of seven, to begin a lifelong physical and mental taining in order to become the most disciplined and feared warrior the world  has ever seen. Only to serve the will and defend the honor of Sparta and it's people to the best of your ability and virtue, for nothing has meaning if you do not uphold your honor. 

 But, if you were not found worthy, your body would be immedietly cast down the narrow ridge to be crushed and broken until nothing remains of your infant form. 
Life for women was different however. They would be just as well educated as men and could be athletes or warriors, but mostly they were traders, farmers and would often take seats of power and social status among the society of Sparta. 

The people of Sparta worshiped Ares, the (REAL) god of war and member of the Greek Pantheon. They would often make sacrifices of dogs to him and their clergy's attire was mostly based on the colour red as it was favored by Aries.

 Such is the way of honor. Such is the way of Sparta.

Skill Proficiencies: As a male character you can choose 2 from the following: History, Athletics, Intimidation, Survival, Stealth, Acrobatics

The above represent the multitude yet simplicity of the fruitful training and education given to the male members of Spartan society.

As a female character you can choose 2 from the following: Persuasion, Perception, Insight, History, Religion, Athletics

The above represent the social and cultural plethora of positive outcomes provided to the people by the female memebrs of Spartan society.

P.S: Feel free to replace any of the above lists with each other, men and women were considered equal in Spartan society, thus you could choose any two skills provided form the above lists regardless of the existance of genders at all. This also applies to anything  else written i this homebrew backround.

Tool Proficiencies: Ancients Greeks throught the peninsula mostly enjoyed gambling games of dice and a strategic game of spheres. 

You choose one gaming set of your choice between dice, spheres and backgamon(just cuz)

Languages: You speak common from the basic educatiopn you have received while in your juvenile years.

Equipment: For men there was a standard equipment set that was given to them when they grew worthy enough. The set consists of : a sword, a spear, a round shield, a red cloack and helmet decorated with a thick line of red hair all across the middle and finally iron leggings and bracelets. Beyond that spartans might have carried a bow or any two handed weapon but such choices were simply not that popular back then. 

For women who chose to become more warrior like similar attire would be given to them. For those who chose the life of influence and maintenance of the social pillars you can choose to spend 150 gp as you see fit to prepare yourself. 

Remeber that education was publick for all the poeple and so it did not require money for any form of basic education.

Suggested Characteristics

Spartan life is very harsh and strict for all residents. Sometimes this creates a very well balanced person capable of great feats through many different experiences or it can make one lust for the world outside fo what is given to them. Spartans who dissobey the law were often ostrisized, shunned or exiled in order to keep the status and image of the city as stable as possible. Not all  find it easy to agree to this way of life. This can either create confliction or even be a reason for total unity in the face of danger.
