growing up you most likely had a bad experience. what or who it was is up to you to decide as well as if it was one huge event or lots of small events. either way, something(s) happened to you growing up that exposed you to the darker side of the world. a side that casts its long shadow over much of the world that there is. but you were different. instead of doing the usual, becoming timid or becoming a bad person yourself you sought to resist this nature of the world. you chose to fight back as opposed to submit or join in. work with your dm to decide what kind of philanthropist you are. are you part of a philanthropist charity or are you a single do-gooder? do you still believe in the ability of the law? if you are a solo philanthropist you are most likely just an adventurer who goes out of their way to help others and avoid harming others whenever possible usually opting for peaceful solutions. if you are part of a group, decide which group and what rank you possess (if there even are ranks. an old adage is that philanthropist groups with ranks are often not as pure as ones without them). you can make your own but here are two template ones to insert into your world.
nature's forgivers
a small organisation combined of vehicle drivers, nature experts and all sorts of construction experts. when natural disaster hits or is forecasted to hit large or small settlements, NF drivers swoop in to evacuate people. after the disaster is over, construction experts then move in to rebuild homes and communities. on top of this a small force of them build temporary living spaces for the victims.
no excuse at all
a group of people who help families suffering domestic abuse as well as work with authorities to punish offending figures. they get their name from their slogan: "simply having might does not give you the right. just being tall is no excuse at all."

because you are usually seen helping them, common folk that are from poorer backgrounds or have been helped by a philanthropist group before will revere you and will be willing to help you however they can. governing bodies of any kind will also recognise your helpfulness and be more willing to work with you as long as they are of a good nature. as a result of this unfortunately governing bodies of a more selfish and evil nature will sometimes fear you and actively attempt to hinder you
