At some point in your early life, you have discovered that you wake up some days being a different person, remembering however what your other personalities did
Characters with the multichar background have a main personality and 1-3 additional ones (up to the player). They need to roll a d20 after each long rest. On a roll of less than 7 (1-6), they wake up with one of the secondary personalities, rolled randomly. You may choose to switch the Intelligence, wisdom and charisma base stats if you want to reflect the change. They will return to the original numbers when you switch back to your main personality.
The player needs to create the traits and alignment for each personality. All share the same knowledge, class and abilities.
- Skill Proficiencies: Deception, Intimidation
- Tool Proficiencies: Disguise kit
- Languages: One of your choice
- Equipment: Disguise kit, a costume, a pouch containing 10 gp
A multiple personality character switches randomly among personalities. Roll on the secondary personality table to determine your persona, or work with the DM to create a persona that’s unique to your character and suits the tone of your game.
| d10 | Multiple personalities |
|---|---|
| 1 | A flamboyant spy or brigand |
| 2 | The incarnation of a nation or people |
| 3 | A scoundrel with a masked guise |
| 4 | A vengeful spirit |
| 5 | The manifestation of a deity or your faith |
| 6 | One whose beauty is greatly accented using makeup |
| 7 | An impersonation of another hero |
| 8 | The embodiment of a school of magic |
| 9 | A warrior with distinctive armor |
| 10 | A disguise with animalistic or monstrous characteristics, meant to inspire fear |
Most of your fellow adventurers and the world know you as your main personality. Those who seek to learn more about you—your weaknesses, your origins, your purpose—find themselves stymied by your daily behaviour swings.
You have no control over who you will wake up as next day, and you may hace or fear one or more of your other personalities.
Suggested Characteristics
A multiple personality character usually plays their main personality — the hero or extraordinary person they are most days. Some days, though, they wake up as somebody else. To define a secondary personality, feel free to choose characteristics from other backgrounds. For the main personality, the one who tis in charge most of the days, consider a distinct set of characteristics. As a result, those with this background have multiple sets of characteristics, one for each of their personalities.
