You have spent your life in the service of history, you are devout to a specific race, species or field of focus. You act as an intermediary between the realm of the supernatural and the mortal world, performing excavations or working to uncover the secrets left behind by past life. You are not necessarily restricted to tedious brushing and fieldwork but like to work out the details of why certain bones or artifacts were left behind. Your main goal in this campaign is either the discovery and recovery of a powerful planet changing artifact or to find a lost legendary secret in a tomb or lost realm. (much creative freedom is given in this choice, you need an idea and the DM will create the story and effects of this goal)
Choose a excavation research theme that has forced you to resort to a life of adventure rather than boring ass field mining, and work with your DM to detail the nature of your reasoning to leave. Research different dieties, races, mythos or just make up something plausible to want to search out.
- Skill Proficiencies: Insight, History
- Tool Proficiencies: Cartographers tool's
- Languages: Two of your choice
- Equipment: A Row boat tied off at the coast of Durpa (50 gp)(your way to get to the village from your far off land possibly or just a gift from a colleague to help on your travels), Dungeoneer's Pack , a set of common clothes, and a pouch containing 3 gp
As an Artifact uncoverist , you command the respect of those who share your pursuit. You and your adventuring companions can expect to receive free food and care at a dig site with workers still or possibly museums that would like to support your pursuits though you must provide proof that you are honest and active in your passions.
You might also have ties to a specific excavation site that is dedicated to your chosen field of study, and you have a residence there. This could be the site where you trained or previously worked, if you remain on good terms with it, or a zone where you have found a new home. While near your site, you can call upon the assistance or others to provide the support you ask for in times of need if so inclined.
Suggested Characteristics
Artifact uncoverists are shaped by their experience from research, excavation and rigorous study in science, history and geographic focus. Their study of the history, tenets of their vocation and their relationships to this type of research affect their mannerism. These will of course draw into their main ideals or extends from some past experience. Their flaws might be some hidden hypocrisy or heretical idea, or an ideal or bond taken to an extreme.
