You have served your city or country as a lawmaker, advocate or high-level enforcer of the law. Boasting a legal authority beyond that of guards or soldiers, you’ve brought criminals to justice and have helped the falsely accused prove their innocence; or perhaps you’ve exploited your position for economic or political gain? Whatever your motivations, you possess extensive knowledge of the law as well as the inner workings of the legal system—an asset few of your fellow adventurers possess.

Skill Proficiencies: Insight, Persuasion
Languages: Two of your choice
Equipment: A uniform or set of clothes befitting your position, an object identifying your authority (such as a badge, gavel or license), a signet ring, sealing wax, and a pouch containing 15 gp.

Legal Occupation

There are many facets to the law, from adjudicating or defending in the courts to creating new laws or enforcing existing ones. Choose your position of legal authority, or roll on the table below.

d8 Legal Occupation
1 Attorney
2 Constable
3 Diplomat
4 Governor/Sovereign
5 Judge
6 Legislator
7 Marshal
8 Warden

Feature: Legal Favor

Thanks to your position of authority—previously held or otherwise—you’ve a knack for getting yourself and your allies out of legal trouble, and can usually get away with lenient punishments for even serious crimes. In larger cities, other justiciars you may encounter are inclined to trust and believe you, and will treat you and your allies with both respect and civility.

Either way, you hold a position of considerable political and legal power within the confines of civilized society. Outside its comfort and safety however, your position carries little weight.
