Characters who become Disciples of the Word believe that the Word is the first and final truth, the primordial force from which all existence sprang. Before the gods shaped worlds or claimed dominion, the Word spoke reality into being. The gods themselves are not the source of creation, but expressions of it, bound by the same eternal law as every mortal soul.

To a Disciple, the Word is not merely spoken language. It is the hidden pattern behind existence, the uncaused cause, the first vibration, the law that gives form to chaos. The Word is life and death, creation and destruction, order and change. It is all things and the silence between them.

Disciples seek wisdom through the The First Testament, an ancient collection of writings preserved and passed from one generation of disciples to the next. Tradition holds that its earliest passages were penned by the first mortals who heard the Word speak directly in the dawn of creation. Though copied countless times throughout the ages, disciples believe its truths have endured. They study its teachings, memorize its passages, and compare them with the wonders of the world, believing that creation itself confirms what has been written. Many journey across the lands not only to deepen their understanding of the First Testament's teachings, but also to proclaim them, hoping to guide others toward the truth of the Word and a greater understanding of reality itself.
