You have spent your life travelling, you learned much, did much. You never stayed in one place, whether you wanted to or not, you had no home. Depending on your stature, you might have been forced out of your home and made to relocate constantly. Or perhaps you stole your riches then travelled the world. Possibly, your family funded your academic campaign abroad.
- Skill Proficiencies: Since you have been abroad and seen a lot of different things, and talked to so many people you gain one proficiency out of the choices given.
- Languages: After picking up and putting down several different languages you decided to focus on just one of your choice.
Being around so many people has been beneficial (or detrimental) to you and your reputation. Discuss with your DM if your proficiency is a 'negative' one such as intimidation or sleight of hand while also depending on your backstory.
People know you, they've seen your face and know who you are, they might give you and your shelter access to a safe place, a secret entrance, or some thing else your DM decides. This can also be a negative thing. They know you. Perhaps you scammed someone in gambling because of your deception to make them fold when they had a good hand, winning the game in the process. People of a place might be prone to show you and your party inhospitality.
