No one’s quite sure why you walk these roads, perhaps not even you; are you running from something? Searching desperately for a treasure, or seeking the favor of a mysterious benefactor? Whatever your reasons, destiny and you have proven strange bedfellows, constantly vying for the chance to prove who controls who.

Wanderer’s Call

All who walk the road less traveled do so for a reason. Call it fate, call it luck, call it a curse; whatever it is, you’re all united by the call of adventure. Choose a reason for your wanderlust, or roll one on the Wanderer’s Call table.

1 You’re running from something, something horrible; but you don’t know what.
2 You or a loved one have come down with a horrid sickness or wretched curse, and now you seek a cure.
3 A disaster occurred in your hometown, with you at the center of it; if you don’t stay on the move, the law might catch you.
4 Your family holds are dark secret which you refused to participate in, and it’s left you without a home.
5 You seek riches, and want them to yourself. Gold, power, fame, all of it lies just another step away.
6 Once, your every need was attended to. Now, you need to prove you’re capable of taking care of yourself.
7 A dark or divine power, perhaps one you worship, has called you to the road to do its bidding. You’ve no choice but to oblige.
8 You’re an amnesiac, left with nothing but a name and a surprising amount of muscle memory. You’ve vowed to never rest until you’ve regained your memory and can return home.
9 You’re secretly a prince from a far-away kingdom; and if you want to be king someday, you need to make a name for yourself.
10 You did terrible things to avenge the murder of someone you loved. You became a monster, and now you’re hunted like one.
 
Feature: Seen It All

You’ve spent years, decades even, following your urge to walk from town to town, and you’ve seen nearly everything there is to see. You know how to tell apart the most important buildings in any settlement you come across- that is, the center for whatever law enforcement the town has, as well as the local hangout for outlaws and ruffians, if any- from a glance. Whichever you prefer to frequent is up to you.

 
Suggested Characteristics

You have wandered these roads with no real sense of purpose, and though it’s lonely, it’s your calling. Many have seen your face and few know your name, but how you’re remembered, if you even wish to be, is entirely in your hands.
