Prerequisite: proficiency in perception.
You were born without the sense of sight. To compensate for the lack of vision you improved your other senses to help you.
- Skill Proficiencies: Sixth Sense: By choosing this background, you feel your surroundings without relying on sight. You detect things that those with sight cannot, whether you're in complete darkness, deep in the dense fog, or dealing with invisible enemies. You can't read, discern colors, or perceive details that don't involve sound or odor. But when it comes to detecting a creature's presence, movement, and basic shape, blindsight can allow you to get it. You have advantage in Wisdom (perception) and Wisdom (intuition) rolls.
Echolocation: By hitting your blind cane, wooden staff or any object that emits sound and vibration on the ground, you can within a radius of 60ft detect the presence of creatures and magical objects that are within range. Creatures that don't want to be detected need to make a Dexterity save roll. (CD: 8 + your Proficiency Bonus + your Wisdom Modifier). Echolocation lasts for one round, each turn the creatures have to reroll.
- Languages: Braille: You acquire the ability to read braille.
- Equipment: Blind Cane: You can choose to have a personalized blind cane to help you orient yourself on your walk. You can also use the blind cane as a weapon.
The Blind Cane is a one-handed weapon, it has a maximum reach of 10ft. It is a melee blunt weapon and the damage is 1d6.
Blindness wasn't enough to stop you. Many must look at you with pity, offering help to do simpler activities, but you don't give up and seek the independence and peace you long for. Your way of seeing the world is totally different from others, because the beauty of things is in meaning, in presence, in philosophy, in history and not in appearances. The sky may be blue, but only you can enjoy the birdsong so carefully.
