The warden is the head of prison. The warden is responsible for maintaining order, supervising the employees and inmates, and enforcing rules and regulations.

• Maintain safety within the correctional facility by establishing safety policies, creating safety campaigns, and enforcing safety rules
• Provide leadership and direction to correctional staff
• Oversee all property, grounds, and upkeep of the facility
• Ensure that facilities and equipment are well maintained
• Oversee continuing education of correctional staff
• Oversee hiring and disciplining of correctional staff
• Research current legislation and regulations
• Develop and implement new policies
• Develop, approve, and maintain policies, procedures, and programs for the supervision and administration of correctional facilities
• Supervise, train, and evaluate correctional officers
• Supervise and maintain safety and security of facilities, equipment, and inmates
• Manage facilities to ensure inmates receive adequate nutrition and healthcare services
• Maintain databases and records systems; participate in database audits
• Provide expert witness testimony
• Maintain and update databases, records systems, information systems, and related technology
• Perform other duties as assigned or requested
