The Resurrected Image

You have been dead for 100-200 years. You have been resurrected.

You are from a different time and place in history, one so remote that few common folk in the Realm may not realize you existed or remember the time in history. The chances are good that even if some people you meet have heard of you or the place you are from in history, they know merely a name and perhaps a few outrageous stories. You have been resurrected for what could be many reasons, which you might or might not choose to share. The reason for your resurrection can be varied, be it by a family member, an evil entity or any other interesting reason you come up with.

Although you will undoubtedly find some things have changed in the time you have been gone, be it styles or customs, strange and discomfiting , you can also be sure that some things people take for granted will be new wonders you’ve never laid eyes on before.

When a resurrection is done, it only brings back someone who was willing. Imagine your character's essence or soul perhaps having been trapped in a plane of chaos, limbo, or any other realm which would make you willing to come back. It can also be decided you were resurrected against your will with DM permission. If you wish for the reason you were resurrected to be unknown to you, work with the DM to create the reason you were brought back (amnesia, evil force or celestial unknown to you etc.). The reason for your resurrection can also be known to you (a relative or other person/entity/item).

Skill Proficiencies: History or Religion, and 1 other skill of the players choice to represent the previous life's background in some small way.
Tool Proficiencies: You have proficiency with a gaming item, or instrument, something you found helped pass the time while you acclimated to the new time period.
Languages: Any one of your choice, most likely related to your previous life or to the reason you were resurrected.
Equipment: One set of traveler’s clothes, a memento or trinket from your past life that was present when you were resurrected. (in the case of the PC being unaware of why they were resurrected it can be a trinket left behind for the PC to find upon being given new life), an instrument or gaming set you are proficient with and a pouch containing 15 gp

Why Are You Here?

A Resurrected PC might set out on a journey for a number of reasons, and the reasons behind the resurrection could have been voluntary or involuntary. Determine why you have been resurrected by creating the story of who, why, and where or create a reason in conjunction with the DM.

Feature: Blast from the Past

Your accent, mannerisms, figures of speech, and perhaps even your appearance all mark you as "lost in time". Curious glances are directed your way wherever you go, which can be a nuisance, but you also gain the friendly interest of scholars and others intrigued by the past you belonged, to say nothing of everyday folk who are entertained to hear stories about how it used to be.

You can parley this attention into access of people or places you might not otherwise have, for you and your traveling companions. Noble lords, scholars, and merchant princes, to name a few, might be interested in hearing about past histories, secrets of the land, and people from your previous life (whether you know them or not).
