You serve the community where you grew up, by relentlessly seeking the truth and protecting the weak. You aren't a soldier, directing your gaze outward at possible enemies. Instead, your service to your hometown inside the city walls, protecting the citizenry from lawbreakers and malefactors of every stripe.
As a Swordcaptain of the City Watch of Waterdeep, you are head of a small group other Watchers. Instead of simply patrolling the streets, your group is tasked with solving crimes after the fact, skilled in investigating crime scenes and tracking down criminals.
While you are sworn to the Watchers and the Lord's of Waterdeep, the mystery of who the rest of the lords might be, is a mystery continuously on your mind. Just as the question if the secrecy truly protects the interest and well-being of all Waterdhavians or just of the ruling elite.

- Equipment: A uniform in the style of your unit and indicative of your rank, city guards investigators' badge, two set of tools that you are proficient in, a magnifying glass, a notebook with a writing quill, a set of common clothes, a horn with which to summon help, a set of manacles, and a pouch containing 10gp.
Your experience in enforcing the law, and dealing with lawbreakers, gives you a feel for local laws and criminals.
