Choose a cause, faction, or individual you want to follow (nothing objectively religious, though, that would be an Acolyte) and work with your DM to detail the nature of your zealous service. This can be basically anything not specifically religious of your choosing. Were you brought up in a household or community that felt strongly about using magic for personal gain? Did you become indoctrinated by a friend while visiting an academy in a major city? Was your life saved by a truly epic hero that you now all but worship? Were you a bookworm who stumbled onto a lost tome that gave you historical insight no one else seems to understand? Whatever it may be, your belief in whatever you stand for is completely unshakable.

Their study of the history and ideals of their chosen cause, faction, or individual, and their bond with fellow zealots, shapes how they view the world around them. Their flaws might include gatekeeping against those seeking entrance to their clique, or an inability to accept verified truth if it in any way goes against what they've read or believe.
