Due to some unfortunate circumstance, such as a shipwreck, becoming stranded behind enemy lines after the loss of your squad, an invasion, or a disaster, at some point in your past you were forced to enter a situation where your survival depended on your wits, your strength, and the environment around you. This experience has led you to value the things you have much more, to never take things for granted, and to not unnecessarily waste resources. You still have some instincts left from that experience, which are quite helpful in the life of an adventurer, such as understanding resource scarcity and having a keen sense for danger.

Skill Proficiencies: You are proficient in Insight and Survival checks.
Tool Proficiencies: You are proficient in Woodcarver's Tools and Cook's Utensils, as proficiency in the shaping of wood and the cooking of food was extremely necessary during your survival situation. Additionally, you are proficient with bows.
Languages: You are proficient in one additional language, perhaps one you had to learn during your survival situation to interact with locals.
Equipment: You begin with a set of Woodcarver's Tools, a set of Cook's Utensils, a set of commoner's clothing, a week's worth of rations, a simple weapon of your choice (or 20 gold as an alternative option), a bow, 20 arrows, and 2d10 gold pieces.

Feature: Survivalist

Thanks to your experience in a survival situation, you have adapted to a life lived lean and unwasteful, as you know that waste and excess can lead to doom. If you ever consume any food or drink, roll a d20. If the result is 10 or less, nothing happens other than your hunger being satisfied. If it is 11 or more, however, the food is considered only half eaten, and may be used one more time before being completely finished, but you still receive the full effect of the meal. This effect may not be repeated on food that is half-eaten. Additionally, you have advantage on Survival checks made to find food or water, as well as to deduce if it is safe to consume or not.
