The Wail Swamp is a large, southern swamp, known to have been home to many swamp-dwelling True Tempests. Many people frequently disappeared from the villages around the swamps, and, as the tale goes, they were claimed to have become the True Tempests. You, however, know the truth. Your exposure to the magic of the True Tempests over the years resulted in the slow transformation of your body, taking on traits that benefited you as you attempted to traverse the swamplands. The soft ground and water soon began to seem like more of a home to you than your village, so it eventually became your home. You vanished, maybe without a trace, moving deeper into the swamp and living amongst the True Tempests. Perhaps you found a group of others that had been similarly transformed, or maybe you simply decided to live on your own with the dragons.
Your transformation and environment may have resulted in a number of visual traits. You may have developed webbing between your fingers and toes. You may have grown taller, your legs developing some form of scales. Your eyes may have changed, becoming almost similar to those of an animal. Your appearance may have become incredibly unkempt, and some algae and mosses may have even begun to grow on you.
Due to the legends in the area, many people fear the swamp-dwellers, viewing them as monsters, halfway between person and dragon. Additionally, so few of the swamp-dwellers leave the heart of the swamp that even your existence is doubted by many others. This leaves you as something of a myth to many.
