You’ve always tried to do the right, noble thing. Spend your days studying, helping others, and rectifying wrongs that you see. But deep down you’ve always been a little envious of the people who are able to commit these wrongs without being racked with guilt.
Eventually that envy mounted too high and became too strong and one night you gave in to it. You were enamored with the freedom this brought. Ever since, you have forgone sleep some nights just to taste that freedom again.
Moral righteousness during the day weakens your psyche, giving the depraved parts of your soul a window to escape.
Upon nightfall, roll a percentile die -
50 or greater, you can successfully long rest or continue tasks for good.
Less than 50, you give in to the chaos. Forced to omit a long rest and cause chaos, giving into your worst, most intrusive thoughts. You suffer a point of exhaustion, unless you kill a number of innocents equal to your proficiency modifier during that night.
