Left on the steps of a temple as an infant, you have grown up in service to a deity, learning their teachings as you learned to speak and walk. The priestesses and priests raised you and now, as an adult, it was only natural that you'd become one of their ranks, serving the temple and its community in accordance with your deity's teachings.
Yet, the unanswered questions surrounding your birth and abandonment remain everpresent in the back of your mind, yearning for answers you might never recieve. Still, while you do not know your parents, you do not lack in family. The temple and the city it resides in are your home, your charge and your destiny. They are the people that took you in and were there for you. You have made it your life's mission to pay forward the kindness and love you recieved to others who are just as unfortunate as that tiny child, left alone on the steps of a temple.
- Skill Proficiencies: You may choose two between: History, Insight, Medicine, Perception,
- Languages: Two of your choice
- Equipment: A holy symbol (a gift to you when you entered the priesthood), a prayer book or prayer wheel, 5 sticks of incense, vestments, a set of common clothes, and a pouch containing 15 gp.
As a priest, you command the respect of those who share your faith, and you can perform the religious ceremonies of your deity. You and your companions can expect to receive free healing and care at a temple, shrine, or other established presence of your faith, though you must provide any material components needed for spells. Those who share your religion will support you (but only you) at a modest lifestyle.
At the temple you call home, you can call upon the priests for assistance, provided the assistance you ask for is not hazardous and you remain in good standing with your temple.
Suggested Characteristics
You were shaped by your experience growing up in the temple. Your study of the history and tenets of your faith and your relationships to your temple, its hierarchies and communty affect your mannerisms and ideals. Your flaw might be some hidden hypocrisy or heretical idea, or an ideal or bond taken to an extreme.
