You have spent your youth studying at the military academy which have given you extensive training in both theoretical and practical aspects of military life. You have insight in aspects of military structure which you can use to your advantage when analyzing enemies that belong to an organized unit. For reasons of your own you have elected to be discharged from the academy, stripping you of your rank and access to restricted areas.
You are bound to your family name, for better or worse. That means the actions of your family past and present affects your standing in the Kingdom and you affect theirs. This may mean you have to overcome the negative reputation of a sibling or parent, they may even become your rival. Conversely, your overall standing rises along with any positive deed of note by any member of your family.
Discuss with your DM what branch of military and which organization your academy belonged to.
- Skill Proficiencies: You can choose 2 skill proficiencies from Athletics, Acrobatics, History, Insight, Medicine, Perception, Intimidation and Survival.
- Tool Proficiencies: Navigator's tools or Herbalism tools, vehicles (land)
- Languages: Choose two standard languages (Dwarvish, Elvish, Giant, Gnomish, Goblin, Halfling, Orc)
- Equipment: set of common clothes, a pouch containing 15 gp, Navigator's tools or Herbalism kit.

You spent some time in a structured environment learning all sorts of things. So, whether delving in a dungeon, or helping townsfolk, you have been taught what to look for and what to do. You have knowledge of monsters outside of what normal people would have. When you encounter a creature, you may make an Intelligence (Investigation) check at a DC (10 + 1/2 monster's CR, rounded up) to know some information about it (up to the DM's discretion based on the degree of success/commonness of the creature).

As a discharged student, you find your new life to lack direction and maybe even purpose. You crave for a path ahead to places you want to go and to reach your goals. Though the playing field has shifted, you are still you. You must use your days to search for new paths your life can take and remember to stand up straight with your head forward.
