Samurai Image

The samurai originated as large farmers who were responsible for defense in the remote provinces. As this was so successful, these farming families specialized in carrying out military missions for the emperor - the sword nobility was born. Over time, the samurai developed from this sword nobility and became the ruling class under the shogun.

When you choose this background, work with your DM to determine which clan you were a part of, how far through its ranks you progressed, and what kind of experiences you had during your military career.
