Mudwings are a type of dragon from a book series called wings of fire. A mudwing troop in an army is a hatching of siblings. The first-born is always the biggest, and her or his first task is to help their sisters and brothers hatch by breaking their eggs from the outside. Mudwing siblings are incredibly loyal to one another. In fact, no mudwing queen in history has been challenged by a sister, only daughters. In wings of fire, only female dragons can rule their tribes. And they have to be either a niece, a daughter or a sister. Then the current Queen and the challenger have a fight to the death, and whoever survives becomes queen. Mudwings are brown with gold and amber underscales. They can hold their breath for up to an hour and can breathe fire under the right conditions. They need warmth most of all to breathe fire.
