Amnesiac Image

You remember absolutely nothing about your past up until very recently, at which point you awoke confused and unsure as to who you were. You strangely have knowledge of your class-related talents and skills, but no idea how or when you learned them. Upon your awakening, you had a few strange items that were unfamiliar to you; an unknown potion, a letter torn in half, and a trinket of some sort (all decided by the DM). You also will come into contact with the occasional NPC who will in fact recognize you. Whether this is good or bad is ultimately up to the DM.

Basically, by taking the Amnesiac background, you are allowing the DM to create and manipulate your backstory. Maybe you were a noble who is no longer, or maybe you had a hand in evil activities that you no longer feel the desire to be a part of in this new life. Your past is up to your DM, but your future is completely up to you...

Skill Proficiencies: Deception, Survival, Persuasion
Tool Proficiencies: 1 Tool, Instrument, or Game Proficiency of your choice. This represents something you were good at before you lost your memory, that came back to you naturally after you woke up.
Languages: 1 Language of your choice. You are fluent in this language, but do not know how...

Feature: Unknown Past

Your life before you awoke with no memories could have been good or evil, poor or rich, famous or completely unheard of... Due to this fact, you will occasionally come into contact with people who knew you before. They may be friendly or they may be hostile, but either way you have no idea who they are, and you must deal with this situation in whichever way you will. The DM will sporadically throw this situation at you, and whether or not it is a positive or negative encounter is up to them. Your history is something the DM will know but you must discover on your own.

Suggested Characteristics

Not knowing your own past can be a nightmare for some, or a second chance for others. A second chance for what though is up to you.
