d4 Entertainer Routines
1 Dancer
2 Jester
3 Knife Thrower
4 Storyteller

Feature: By Popular Demand

You can always find a place to perform, usually in an inn or tavern but possibly with a circus, at a theater, or even in a noble’s court. At such a place, you receive free lodging and food of a modest or comfortable standard (depending on the quality of the establishment), as long as you perform each night. In addition, your performance makes you something of a local figure. When strangers recognize you in a town where you have performed, they typically take a liking to you.

Contacts

As a member of a variable circus troupe you can always find help or assistance from other troupes when you furnish your troupe mask. Each mask is unique and represents which troupe you belong to. The mask is significant to troupe, one stolen it's like a piece of you has been torn away, as such it is your most prized possession. When the Circus Performer dies, their mask vanishes in a vibrant performance of magic just like how they lived their lives.

Variant Variable Circus Troupe: Knife Thrower

A Knife Thrower is as much an entertainer as any minstrel or circus performer, trained to make the arts of combat and knife throwing into a spectacle the crowd can enjoy. This kind of flashy combat is your entertainer routine, though you might also have some skills as a tumbler or actor. Using your By Popular Demand feature, you can find a place to perform in any place that features combat for entertainment — perhaps an arena or secret pit fighting club. You can replace the musical instrument in your equipment package with an inexpensive but unusual weapon, such as a bladed playing cards or magical daggers you summon.

Variant Feature: Jester

As a Jester, you make a performance of magic, illusion, and deception. Trained to make the arts of illusion and deception into a spectacle the crowd can enjoy. This kind of flashy performance is your entertainer routine, though you are also a master at wielding magic. When you are in combat, you utilize deception and illusion to disorient and confuse your targets. They dance in the palm of your hand with no idea what fate you have in store for them. Using your By Popular Demand feature, you can find a place to perform in any place that features performance for entertainment — perhaps a tavern or theater, maybe even in a royal court. You can replace the musical instrument in your equipment package with an inexpensive but unusual item, such as a bladed playing cards or magical tattoos that are imbued with ritualistic magic that allows them to be used as an arcane focus
