You were trained by professionals in your field, specifically, to be a mercenary. You had access to numerous instructors and their resources, and you completed your training in your chosen class. You developed a relationship with the other students and instructors, even if that relationship was as small enough as a wave in greeting, and the title of 'Mariguard Mercenary' is one you wear proudly. As an alumni of the Mariguard Mercenary Academy, that badge offers you a modicum of reputation - despite who you might have been before your enrollment with the guild. The Mariguard Academy boasts the 'Amnesty Clause', a unique agreement the Academy holds with every other nation within Amaranthe. The Academy wipes your slate clean, so long as you enlist within the Academy's ranks, and prove to be a viable, effective mercenary.

You left the fold of the Mariguard Mercenaries for one reason or another. Perhaps a social agreement with another contractor, or a mission went awry that you just couldn't let go of. Whatever your reasons, you left the Mariguard on good terms, forever carrying that badge and reputation with you.
