You have the ability to talk to spirits in order to see the future, see the past, or experience things outside of normal sensory contact. For some people, these powers are wildly out of control, being more of a nuisance or disruption than a useful tool, some can only access their powers through intense concentration or while under the effects of a powerful emotion, while others use their powers as naturally as they would their own hands. A few clairvoyants may have multiple powers, but most only have one. Regardless the nature of you powers, they changed your entire life.

- Languages: Choose one exotic language (Abyssal, Celestial, Deep Speech, Draconic, Infernal, Primordial, Sylvan, or Undercommon)
- Equipment: A monster hunter’s pack (see the sidebar), a set of common clothes, and one trinket of special significance (choose one or roll on the Gothic Trinkets table after this background).
At a young age, likely sometime during adolescence, you began to develop unusual capabilities- abilities no one else has, but aren't magic. They're just something you can "do". You are a clairvoyant. Simpler, uneducated folk fear and misunderstand your powers as a form of foul witch craft, the effects of a curse, or some other thing- much as they may fear magic they do not understand. If it became known that you have these powers, it is very likely that you were shunned, exiled, or possibly even arrested or assaulted. Did you hide your powers, and if so, did anyone ever find out? Were you open with your abilities? Were you treated differently, or did people accept you? Have you ever faced intolerance or fear because of your powers? What do you think of your powers- are they natural and a part of who you are, or are they some unnatural burden foisted upon you by fate? Did you have any mentors or teachers who helped you come to terms with or gain control over your powers? How did you use your powers in your day-to-day life or to make a living?

You have the ability to experience things outside of normal sensory contact. This manifests in different ways for different types of clairvoyants. Choose one:
Retrocognition. You are able to see past events exactly as they transpired by tapping into the spirit realm.
Divination. Through visions or communication with spirits, you are able to catch glimpses of future events.
Channeling. You have the ability to allow the spirit of a dead person speak using your voice.
Mental mediumship. You can communicate with spirits by telepathy. You hear (clairaudience), see (clairvoyance), and/or feel (clairsentience) messages from spirits.

You have an unnatural ability tied to the spirit realm. You can either choose to accept it as a part of your character or deny it with a hope of being somewhat normal.
