Entropy Image

You hail from the Eastern lands. The link between you and this current dimension was disrupted by means you've yet to discover. During your travels throughout the East, you discovered an aching pain spreading across your body. Entropy consumes you and leaves your body rotting, with no Cleric nor conventional Healer able to cure you of your affliction. Even at Greater Restoration, the disruption remains. Your body is being eaten away, with the only thing keeping you alive is a Demon/Yokai and the tug-of-war between you, your spirit and Deity all trying to maintain your survival- or even ruin you.

Order and Life are fighting against Death and Entropy, with a demon Spirit representing Entropy taking control of you. You feel compulsive urges you never have before, as if you were driven mad by the chaos and disorder within your body. Perhaps your mind is affected too?

Skill Proficiencies: Choose two from among Arcana, Investigation, Religion, or Survival
Languages: Choose two, one of which must be Abyssal, Celestial, Deep Speech, Draconic, Infernal, Primordial, Sylvan, or Undercommon
Equipment: A monster hunter’s pack (containing a chest, a crowbar, a hammer, three wooden stakes, a holy symbol, a flask of holy water, a set of manacles, a steel mirror, a flask of oil, a tinderbox, and 3 torches), one trinket of special significance (choose one or roll on the Horror Trinkets table after this background), a set of common clothes, and 1 sp.

The Cursed Plague

Prior to this curse you wandered the Eastern lands. Now, you struggle to keep face and prove yourself as who you once were. Darkness and entropy is consuming you, taking the form of a beast tugging away at your connection to this world. Choose from a Spiritual Yokai that is fighting against the Order within you.

d4 The Cursed Plague
1 A wolf possesses over you, bringing out the animalistic nature of a hunter while in combat. When in Combat, if you are dealt more than 1/2 your health in damage in a single round, roll a Wisdom Save DC15. On failure, you lose composure and gain an extra Attack Action for the duration of the fight. At the end of combat suffer 2 points of exhaustion.
2 A nine-tailed fox possesses over you. In times of need, pleasant nothings are sworn to protect you from this spirit. It lies and deceives you- even willing to bend your reality away from you. This creature may speak to you- and may lead you astray. Will you be able to control yourself?
3 The spirit of a Crow compels you. Obsessing and plaguing your mind with ideations of death, murder and darkness. Killing feels natural. When or if someone is knocked Unconscious- or should killing prove easy, take a DC15 Wisdom Save. On Failure, you will lose your composure and attempt to kill the Target.
4 The spirit of a bat, cover of darkness, the ideation of blood and disease. You are ailed from Entropy- and you wish to be consumed by it. To live forever undead and perfected, beyond that of Vampirism or Lichism. Something compels you to absorb yourself with Entropy. You have an urge to drink blood- and when you do, gain a +2 to any Ability Score of your choosing for 1d4 days. At the end of this duration, that Ability Score will suffer a -4 penalty for another 1d4 days.

Feature: Curse of Entropy

Those who look at you see a dying individual and when they see your eyes, your gaze is devoid of life and personality. You blend into the crowd as a dying man and go under the radar. Those who see you will never expect much from you- and you will live with chronic pain over your body forever.

Crowds are less likely to notice you. When in crowded settings, gain advantage on Stealth and Deception rolls.
