Throughout your life, religious devotion to the gods you have chosen to serve has been at the forefront of your life. Eventually, you dedicated your life to act as an intermediary between the realm of the holy and the mortal world, performing sacred rites and offering sacrifices in order to conduct worshipers into the presence of the divine. You are not necessarily a cleric — performing sacred rites is not the same thing as channeling divine power.
However, your relationship with religion, or more so the gods, is much more complicated than many other priests. For a long portion of your life, you were in service of one deity. Sometime along the way, however, you were called to serve another - by force, or of your own free will. While you have left behind your former devotions in favor of a new god, you still have the same high regard in the church of your former religious loyalties. You are also well-known within the church you have now come to serve, as well as with all of its' followers.
- Skill Proficiencies: Two of your choice.
- Tool Proficiencies: One of your choice.
- Languages: One of your choice.
- Equipment: A holy symbol of your former church, a prayer book, a dagger, an arcane focus, a set of common clothes, and a pouch containing 5 gp
While you have become disillusioned with your formerly followed faith, you are still widely recognized as a prominent and strong member of the church you have since left. It seems that word of your leaving has not spread whatsoever. In the eyes of all churchmen of your past faith, you are still the member you once were. You and your adventuring companions can expect to receive free healing and care at a temple, shrine, or other established presence of your faith, though you must provide any material components needed for spells. Those who share your past religion will support you, (but only you,) at a modest lifestyle.
In addition, you also receive all of these bonuses for the church in which you now serve, since you have now realigned yourself and chosen to devote yourself to a new faith. You might also have ties to a specific temple dedicated to your chosen deity or pantheon, and you have a residence there. This could be the temple where you used to serve, if you remain on good terms with it, or a temple where you have found a new home. While near your temple, you can call upon the priests for assistance, provided the assistance you ask for is not hazardous and you remain in good standing with your temple.
