Kidnapped By Tharok Image

7 years ago, you were among a large group of children set to be sacrificed for nefarious means by an agent of the Temple of Elemental Evil, Tharok. Thankfully, you were saved by a party of heroes comprised of Baker Hayfield, Reggie Whitewhiskers, Alin Ivorsson, Larry Birdshot, and Bret Farflame.

Both the trauma of your capture and the encouragement received from these heroes has set you on a path to become heroes yourselves. While some of you have had opportunities before, the Gathering of the Aspirants is at hand once again. Depending on your performance, you will earn invitations to join one of the 5 respective factions: Kingsguard, Azure, Phoenixborn, Blackguard and the University.

Skill Proficiencies: Survival
Tool Proficiencies: One type of artisan’s tools, vehicles (land)
Equipment: A set of artisan’s tools (one of your choice), a shovel, an iron pot, a set of common clothes, and a pouch containing 10 gp

Defining Event

You previously pursued a simple profession among the peasantry, perhaps as a farmer, miner, servant, shepherd, woodcutter, or gravedigger. But the looming Gathering of the Aspirants may set you on a different path and mark you for greater things.

d3 Defining Event
1 I stood up to Tharok and was stabbed in the gut. If not for Reggie, I might have died.
2 I fought my kidnappers to protect the small children and received a nasty scar across my face as payment.
3 I was too young to remember much of what happened, but I sometimes see Tharok and the elementals in my nightmares.

Feature: Rustic Hospitality

Since you come from the ranks of the common folk, you fit in among them with ease. You can find a place to hide, rest, or recuperate among other commoners, unless you have shown yourself to be a danger to them. They will shield you from the law or anyone else searching for you, though they will not risk their lives for you.
