Adopted Apprentice

You grew up struggling on the streets before a wizard saw something special in you. You became an adopted child to your mentor, and under their guidance, you studied arcane forces you had never imagined. Now you stand as a child of two distinct worlds, each with their own set of knowledge.

Skill Proficiencies: Your time as an unofficial apprentice to your mentor has granted you insight into Arcana, and your time on the streets was spent practising your Stealth or your Survival.
Equipment: You are intimately familiar with the many uses of a deck of Playing Cards, and are equally capable with a Dragonchess Set, a reflection of your dual upbringing.

Feature: Child of Two Worlds

You made your fair share of connections while scraping knuckles on the streets, and gathered a compendium of academic allies thanks to the influence of your mentor. As a result, you can easily gain access to the Thieves Guild or Mages College of most cities, and can usually count on them to provide you a bed to sleep on, but be warned: making use of one will make the other wary of your intentions, and you will likely have to explain yourself before relying on both.

A character with this background should be multi-faceted: good at operating in the fields of magical pursuit, and equally capable of operating under cover of darkness.

While they may sacrifice specialization in any one field, they will find that they are more often useful than not.
