You are a stranger coming from distant lands, across lands and seas. You don't know anything about this culture and its history. You have learned the language and in general mores of this land. You left your country a long time ago, because you were driven out, or your homeland was invaded and destroyed, or you ran away, or whatever, but now you can't go back. You left your homeland, and you came to live here.
