You've always been a follower, unsure of where or how to direct your future. So, when you were approached by a group offering to change your whole life for the better, rid you of worry and pain and hardship, how could you refuse? Of course, no life is perfect.
To the credit of your leaders, you don't have to worry about where food is coming from anymore, now your concerns are far more esoteric. Despite your instinct to follow, you have found yourself tasked with greater purpose and a quest separate from the others in your order. Whether your organization seeks to summon an old god or banish a new one, somehow, you've become integral to their operations. Their success lies on your shoulders, but as you explore the world you are meant to doom, or save, maybe your opinions start to change. Maybe you can finally see what was always in front of you, obfuscated by lies and charisma and desperation for a better hand than you were dealt.
- Skill Proficiencies: Choose two skills from this list: Intimidation, Insight, Religion, Arcana, History, Persuasion
- Languages: Choose one language proficiency.
- Equipment: A set of plain clothes, occult paraphernalia of your choice (i.e. a raven's skull, half-melted candles, a vial of blood), letter paper and envelopes, and a pouch containing 10 gp.
You have a network of contacts within your faith that you can reach out to in times of need. They are willing to assist in any matter relating to your greater purpose, but they have little interest in worldly or personal quests. Additionally, the help they provide is not always legal or moral, but it is efficient.
Suggested Characteristics
Members of cults are a varied group, some are intelligent, others charismatic, but they are all looking for something the leaders promised to provide. That may be true love or family or purpose or safety, whatever the case, a cultist is defined by this desperate desire.
