You were once an inmate in a high-security containment facility, where researchers studied magical creatures. Whether you were imprisoned due to having an innate magical power or a curse, perhaps a dangerous artifact you possess, your captors saw you as a threat as well as a research opportunity. Life in the facility was harsh and filled with tests and restraints and endless surveillance. Now that you've escaped, the world outside is alien to you and freedom is as much a challenge as it is a gift. Those who first captured you may still be hunting you, and your time in confinement has left you scarred, resourceful, and determined to survive.

You've learned how to survive confinement and evade attention. You gain advantage on checks to hide or to escape restraints, and you can memorize the layout of any area you've spent at least 1 hour observing. Additionally, you can find weak points in physical barriers, such as doors or walls, reducing the time it takes to break or bypass them.
