You spent a significant part of your life at the monastery-fortress of Candlekeep, famous throughout Faerun for its vast library. There, you found time to study, monks to teach you doscipline, and perhaps part of the answers you were looking for.
- Skill Proficiencies: Arcana, History
- Languages: Two of your choice
- Equipment: A set of traveler's clothes, a scholar's robe, five candles, a tinderbox, an empty scroll case engraved with the symbol of Candlekeep, and a belt pouch containing 10 gp. At the DM's discretion, the case might contain a useful map.
When you attempt to learn or recall a piece of lore, if you do not know that information, you often know where and from whom you can obtain it. Usually, this information comes from a library, scriptorium, university, or a sage or other learned person or creature. Your DM might rule that the knowledge you seek is secreted away in an almost inaccessible place, or that it simply cannot be found. Unearthing the deepest secrets of the multiverse can require an adventure or even a whole campaign. In addition, you are allowed free passage into Candlekeep without making a donation to the library.
