Ex Folk Hero Image

You came from a humble social rank, and you were destined for so much more. The people of your home village regarded you as their champion, and your destiny called you to stand against the tyrants and monsters that threaten the common folk everywhere. Those were the days. Now, you're just a shadow of what you could have been. The disappointed faces of those that believed in you haunt your dreams.

Ex Folk Hero has many similarities to Folk Hero, seeing as they once were one in the same. Most things are the same. The characteristics are parallel; they stand for the same things, but with a different outlook.

Suggested Characteristics

You were a champion, once. It's your choice to resent the people that once praised you, or to try your hardest to regain their favor.

d8 Personality Trait
1 I judge people by their actions, not their words. Afterall, I once believed the words of the people that bllieved in me. Where are they now?
2 I no longer help those in need. Get a real champion to help you.
3 I attempt to achieve great deeds that might bring back the favor of those that praised me.
4 Fair play is for the weak and naive. If you want something done, you have to fight for it with tooth and nail.
5 I used to be confident. I hope that, by doing good deeds, I'll get that back.
6 Thinking is for people with something to lose. I prefer action.
7 I don't talk much. The people already have enough to use against me, I'd rather not say something wrong and give them more to whisper about behind my back.
8 I get bored easily, and turn to all the wrong things to keep my mind off what I don't want it to drift to.
d6 Ideal
1 Respect. Even if I don't get it much anymore, that doesn't mean other people don't deserve it. (Good)
2 Fairness. Everyone should get a chance at greatness. (Lawful)
3 Freedom. No one should suffer within the confines of unhappiness or pain. (Chaotic)
4 Might. If I become strong, I can take what I deserve. What I could have had. (Evil)
5 Sincerity. There’s no point in pretending that something is more or less than it is. I know that ship, for me, has sailed. (Neutral)
6 Destiny. It gives and takes as it wishes. (Any)
d6 Bond
1 I have a family, but I am afraid to face them. I fear their disappointment the most.
2 I worked the land, I love the land, and I will protect the land. It's the only thing that didn't change its opinion of me after I fell from everything else's graces.
3 I've suffered many beatings in my life. Bullies deserve nothing more than death.
4 I hide from the things that remind me of my past life. It's too painful.
5 I protect those that deserve it.
6 I wish my childhood sweetheart had supported me through it all. Maybe then I wouldn't feel so alone.
d6 Flaw
1 The villagers of my land will stop at nothing to see me killed.
2 I’m convinced that my life holds nothing more for me, and it takes a lot to convince me to do anything other than brood.
3 The people who knew me when I was a champion know what happened to make me fall from their praise. I avoid them if at all possible.
4 I have a weakness for all the wrong things. Anything to distract me and stop the pain.
5 Secretly, I believe that things would be better if I were lord and could command that all people that know of my past be executed.
6 I have trouble trusting in my allies. I don't know when they'll desert me, too.
