Anvilsworn Sentinel Image

You were raised among the architects of the mountain—trained to build, defend, and preserve what matters. Whether born in the stone halls of Stonechain Bastion, apprenticed to a rune-engraver, or blood-sworn to the Brotherhood’s code, you are Anvilsworn. You do not bend, you do not break—you endure.

Skill Proficiencies: History, Athletics
Tool Proficiencies: Mason’s Tools and Smith’s Tools
Languages: Dwarvish or Terran (choose one)
Equipment:

  • A chunk of carved stone etched with your Oathmark (your name in stone-runes)

  • A steel pendant of the Hammer in Chain—the Brotherhood’s symbol

  • A notebook filled with sketches of walls, fortresses, or inventions

  • A set of well-kept, practical builder’s clothing

  • A pouch containing 10 gp and a small stone chisel or tuning mallet

Feature: Builder’s Bond

You can identify flaws, strengths, and historical significance in stone structures, fortifications, and architecture with minimal inspection. You can find hidden doors, weak points, or secure ground in most built environments (natural or artificial) with half the normal time or effort.

Additionally, masons, guards, engineers, and other disciplined tradespeople often view you as reliable, trustworthy, or "stone-tested," and may offer work, shelter, or cooperation—especially if you're willing to help reinforce something.

Suggested Characteristics

Anvilsworn are calm, grounded individuals with iron ethics and a craftsman’s pride. They believe in the power of preparation, the dignity of work, and the sacredness of stone, steel, and service.

d8 Personality Traits

  1. I quote old construction proverbs like scripture.

  2. I measure twice, cut once—literally and in life.

  3. I remain calm under pressure. Panicking cracks the foundation.

  4. I can’t help but comment on poor architecture or fortification flaws.

  5. I treat my tools with reverence. A good hammer is a trusted companion.

  6. I don’t waste words—each one should be placed like a stone.

  7. I keep a journal of structures I've built, repaired, or admired.

  8. I see plans everywhere—people, walls, war—they’re all about structure.

d6 Ideals

  1. Order. Structure creates safety. Chaos is collapse. (Lawful)

  2. Legacy. A wall may fall, but the name behind it endures. (Neutral)

  3. Service. I was built to protect others, not just myself. (Good)

  4. Discipline. Mastery comes from repetition and resolve. (Lawful)

  5. Progress. Even the strongest walls must eventually be rebuilt stronger. (Neutral)

  6. Tradition. Our ancestors shaped the mountain—I shape it in their name. (Lawful)

d6 Bonds

  1. My oath to the Brotherhood is carved into my skin—or soul.

  2. I swore to hold the wall during the last siege—I did, and I will again.

  3. I carry a fragment of the first wall I ever built. It reminds me who I am.

  4. My family was lost to a collapse. I build so others won’t suffer the same.

  5. I left the Bastion to learn new methods—but I’ll return with knowledge.

  6. My master taught me everything—and then died saving others. I honor them with every stone I set.

d6 Flaws

  1. I am stubborn to a fault—once I set a course, I rarely change it.

  2. I hold others to the same rigid standards I demand of myself.

  3. I fear being remembered as weak or unworthy of the Oathmark.

  4. I judge those who “break things to make a point” without rebuilding after.

  5. I believe emotions weaken decisions—they must be set aside.

  6. I sometimes value structures, plans, or ideals over people in the moment.
