“I am not justice. I am its memory.”
You descend from the H’dag — a near-forgotten order of wandering executioners from an era before law. They served as judge, jury, and executioner in a time when kings had no reach and peace had no teeth. Feared and respected, the H’dag vanished when the kingdoms rose… but their blood did not.
You carry their legacy — not as a title, but as a burden.
- Skill Proficiencies:
-
Insight (you were raised to read guilt and intent)
-
Intimidation (your presence is unnerving, even before you speak)
-
- Tool Proficiencies:
- One artisan’s tool
- Languages:
-
One of your choice
-
You can recognize written or spoken H’dag glyph-code, an ancient symbolic shorthand used to record judgments and curses. (You cannot speak or write it fluently unless taught, but you can always spot its presence and decipher basic meanings.)
-
- Equipment:
- martial weapon of your choice (often the tool of your judgment)
Your presence carries an eerie gravity. When you enter a new town or speak with a stranger, people instinctively lower their voices and avoid your gaze. Authority figures are uneasy, and commoners may treat you with a mix of fear and reverence — even without knowing your name.
Once per long rest, you may invoke your lineage to do one of the following:
-
Command attention: Gain advantage on a Charisma (Intimidation or Persuasion) check when calling for silence, compliance, or confessions.
-
Sense judgment: With a minute of focused stillness, you can learn whether a creature nearby (30 ft) is guilty of shedding blood or breaking an oath in the last week (DM discretion).
