Grifter Image

You’ve made a living not by what you do, but by what you make others think you do. A master of misdirection, persuasion, and spinning lies into gold, you're a hustler who thrives in social environments. From rigged games of chance to phony investment opportunities, you've conned the greedy, the gullible, and even the wise.

Skill Proficiencies:

  • Deception

  • Persuasion

Tool Proficiencies:
  • Disguise Kit

  • Forgery Kit (or Gaming Set, if you prefer a gambler vibe)

Languages: One of your choice (you pick up languages from those you’ve conned)
Equipment:

  • A set of fine clothes (tailored to make you look more important than you are)

  • A loaded set of dice or marked deck of cards

  • A fake identification or noble seal

  • A pouch containing 15 gp

Feature: Confidence Game

You can earn a modest living by running small cons: forging documents, playing rigged games of chance, selling fake goods, or impersonating someone of influence. People tend to believe you until proven otherwise. When in a new settlement, you can establish a false identity over the course of a few days, complete with papers and backstory.

Additionally, you can usually find an audience willing to listen to you in any tavern, market, or gathering place, giving you advantage on Charisma checks to gather information or spread rumors (DM’s discretion).
