After a complex and rather specific magical education at a prestigious university, under a skilled master, or even through self study, you have learned an eclectic mix of Enchantment and Transmutation magic. With the combination of the two, you can puppet the living and inanimate equally. With further study, the implications of your powers are concerning to say the least.

Skill Proficiencies: You gain proficiency in Arcana and Performance.
Tool Proficiencies: You gain expertise in your choice of Woodcarver's, Potter's, Mason's, Smith's, Leatherworker's or Weaver's tools.
Equipment: You have a small doll or figurine, in addition to a costume clothing, a toolset with which you are proficient, and 35gp you've made entertaining others on the road.

Feature: Puppeteer's Craftsmanship

Given an hour of time (such as during a short rest) and an adequate supply of appropriate material, you can make an object that satisfies the material requirements of the Animate Minor Object(s) spell. There is no limit to the amount of these you can have on hand. Each weighs 4oz, and can be sold for 1sp.

Suggested Characteristics

The path of the marionetteer calls to many people from a wide variety of walks of life. Something to consider is why they turned to this unique style of magic, and what consequences their (in some places discouraged) magical studies have on them, both societally and personally. Their flaws and ideals can fall most anywhere on the ideological spectrum, but tend to center around themes of control and their storytelling.

d8 Personality Trait
1 I enjoying toying with the lives of the people around me, occasionally to their detriment.
2 I find myself inexorably drawn to the wonder of the world around me.
3 I am generally wary of people who come off as manipulative, and those who are not easily manipulatable.
4 I often get sudden bursts of inspiration for plots and schemes to further my (or the party's) goals.
5 I find a good story to tell is more important than a sound plan of engagement.
6 If someone tells me to do something, I interpret it as interestingly as possible.
7 I understand the value of pulling strings, and being a string to be pulled.
8 I often find myself playing devil's advocate for seemingly black-and-white scenarios.
d6 Ideal
1 Control. The world is a stage, and I deserve to pull the strings. (Evil)
2 Order. All of life is a system of pulleys, cogs, and cord. I have my place within it. (Lawful)
3 Impartiality. If all the world is the stage, I should consider the viewpoints of each actor equally. (Neutral)
4 Freedom. Strings may belong on dolls, but never people. The freedom of choice is sacrosanct. (Chaotic)
5 Heroism. Helping others is the foundation of every good story. (Good.)
6 Knowledge. My worth as a storyteller is directly commensurate to the breadth of knowledge I possess. (Any)
d6 Bond
1 I thought my master and I were equals, but it turned out they were puppeting me. They won't get away with it.
2 Less scrupulous parts of my past have recently come to light. Time to tie up loose ends.
3 Someone I owe big time has pulled a string- hard. I will find whatever they are looking for, and be free finally.
4 I was manipulated into undertaking a quest, and I will complete it. And ruin their life and reputation while I'm at it.
5 I have a final task to complete to bring my grand, sinister plot to fruition!
6 I've secretly run out of stories to perform and desperately need inspiration, and a break for that matter.
d4 Flaw
1 I see myself as the center of the spiderweb, and viciously lash out if other's take the lead.
2 This story is mine, and it will unfold in the way I want it to or not at all.
3 I feel the need to be in control of all things at all time, and panic if things get out of hand.
4 I am anxious about whether I truly have free will, or if I am simply a puppet myself of some greater power.
