As a highwayman, you have experience with taking what you want by threat of force and you know where to go to offload your stolen goods. You are the threat that rich travelers worry about on a lonely road in the middle of the night. You learned to move swiftly and silently in the shadows along the road, stalking the fancy carriage bathed in moonlight. You learned how to calm the stolen horse and ride it to where you know it'll be more appreciated than its former owner.
- Skill Proficiencies: Animal Handling, Stealth
- Tool Proficiencies: One type of gaming set, vehicles (land)
- Equipment: A set of dark common clothes including a hood, pack saddle, burglar's pack, and a pouch containing 10 gp
Feature: Black Market Trader
You know where to go or who to ask to find the black market for stolen goods whether its animals, vehicles, or any other valuable items. Your black market contacts can be a good source of intel on the local goings-on as well as providing information on what items or creatures are in high demand. An especially valuable item or creature can potentially be rewarded with favors (DM choice) if brought to the right black market trader. [Note: This is a variant of the Criminal Contact feature.]
Suggested Characteristics
Highwaymen are thieves to be sure, but some are not completely irredeemable. Some steal to support a family, some steal to right wrongs, and others simply want to afford a good meal. Highwaymen typically steal but don't kill; otherwise, the victims cannot be stolen from again in the future. Highwaymen have their own code and morality, but do not abide by the laws of the land.
