Life of Seclusion

Folk seek out or are sought out by the doom scribes for various personal or professional reasons, choose the nature of your seclusion, or you can choose or roll on the table below to determine the reason behind your seclusion.

d4 Life of Seclusion
1 I was searching for spiritual enlightenment.
2 I retreated from society after a life-altering event.
3 I was the caretaker of one of the ancient hermitages that was destroyed.
4 I was a pilgrim to the library of Twilight to learn about the passing of a loved one.

Feature: Discovery

The quiet seclusion  and intensive studies of the Doom scribe hermitage has resulted in a unique discovery. Through intensive study of the litany of Jergal, lord of the end of everything, the Doom scribes have learned how to tap into the collective unconscious of the after life and focused their meditations on individual lost souls in order to learn their names and circumstance of their passing. This process allowed them to assist the sacred documentation of the passing of life into death, subsequently honoring the passing of creatures who passed with out this basic cosmic right. When their secluded hermitages came under attack in ages past, the priest, who were not combat trained, asked Jergal for insight on how they might protect themselves in order to continue their work. Jergal blessed his doom scribes with divine insight on techniques gleaned from visions of the failures of countless creatures last attempts at self preservation. These visions coalesced into a minimalist, primarily defensive style of fighting that was appropriated primarily from divine inspiration.

Through ancient agreements tied to their society's struggle for security in the far wilder lands, many Doom scribes spend a portion of their hermitage serving as scribes and clerks for druid orders where they learn to diversify and strengthen their skills of energy channeling and personal fortitude.

Doom Warden: Doom scribes, by oath, eschew the use of armor and shields, train with limited weapons and learn combat maneuvers through divine visions. They are proficient with the same weapons as druids and have an armor class equal to 10+wisdom+constitution modifiers when not wearing armor or carrying a shield.
