You grew up on a plane different from the one you currently stand on. Every day there was a constant struggle, and so you had to adapt. Your time spent in the unknown has strengthened you, both teaching you how to survive and keeping you alert at all times. You had your reasons for staying there, but you yearned to stand in the mortal plane once again. Through a stroke of luck, a rift between the dimensions opened up, allowing you to come back to mortality, carrying along any experience you brought with you.
