You once worked, perhaps willingly or perhaps not, as an aide to an entity from beyond the Material Plane. Maybe you answered a mysterious job posting, got bound by a magical contract you did not read, or stumbled into a portal and ended up sorting scrolls for a time-stretched wizard. Your employer might have been a djinni, an archfey, a devil, a sentient book, or something stranger.

Your duties included fetching rare ingredients, transcribing runes no one explained, and surviving your employer's contradictory demands. You rarely knew what you were doing, but you did it. Sometimes with competence. Often by luck. Now you carry bits of otherworldly knowledge and instincts that surface when you need them most.
