Sailor (Skyship Captain) Image

You’ve spent your life navigating the skies rather than the seas, commanding a vessel that sails not on waves, but on the winds of the upper air. You know the creak of a well-trimmed line, the hum of the storm in the rigging, and the weight of command on your shoulders. Whether you were a pirate, privateer, explorer, or military captain, the skies are your home.

Skill Proficiencies: Athletics, Perception
Tool Proficiencies: Navigator’s tools, vehicles (Air)
Equipment: A Sextant modified for aerial navigation ([Tooltip Not Found]), [Tooltip Not Found], A moment from your first ship (fragment of the hull or a piece of the ship's wheel, a set of Travelers Clothes, and a pouch containing 200 gp

Feature: Ship’s Passage

When you need to travel through the skies, you can secure free passage on an airship for yourself and your companions. Your rank as a captain — or your reputation among other skyfarers — ensures you can call in favors for safe travel. The vessel’s route and schedule may not perfectly align with yours, and you might be asked to work as part of the crew during the journey.

If you still command your own ship (such as the Cloudpiercer), this feature means you can rally old crew contacts, call in supply favors, or negotiate docking privileges in many skyports without payment — though these favors might need to be repaid later.

Suggested Characteristics

Skyship captains are shaped by endless horizons, unpredictable weather, and the responsibility for their crew. Some become stern and disciplined; others wild and free-spirited. Many are superstitious, believing in omens found in the clouds or storms.
