You were once an ordinary citizen, but one fateful day your life was turned upside-down, the law caught on to you and your community turned against you. You can never go back, but instead ever onward away from the place you once called home. You are no longer welcome, and your face is known as a bad example to youth.
When you choose this background, work with your DM to determine which community you were exiled from, and for what reason. This should cover how controversial your exile was, how public it was, and how seriously the community takes it should you ever return. Additionally, whether the community was a kingdom, a village, a family, or even an organization or guild.

You are used to avoiding the gaze of the authorities. If you choose to do so, you can blend in effortlessly into crowds, seeming like just another ordinary citizen to anyone who dare try to look for you. Without knowing what you look like, and actively searching for you, guards would not think twice as you pass them by.

The life of an exile is no easy one. You face the habits of your past life and the struggles of your new one. This changes a person, leaving them scarred and suffering from guilt.
