You devoted yourself to service in a temple, likely as a child. Your duties are focused on learning and assisting the higher clerics and priests of the temple. While serving the clerics of the temple, you have studied the rites of your deity. You also perform essential, often manual, tasks related to the upkeep of the temple and its ceremonies (perhaps the gardens, or the temple grounds, or even the paperwork or material procurement necessary to function as a temple). Through instruction and your own devotion, you have also begun to learn how to channel the modicum of divine power in service to your deity and to the people who come to worship in your temple.

As an initiate, you have earned the respect of those who share your faith, and you can perform the basic religious ceremonies of your deity. You and your adventuring companions can expect to receive free healing and care at a temple, shrine, or other established presence of your faith, though you must provide any material components needed for spells. Those who share your religion will support you (but only you) at a modest lifestyle.
You also have ties to a specific temple dedicated to your chosen deity, and you have a residence there (though likely simple and perhaps even austere). While near your temple, you can call upon the priests for assistance, provided the assistance you ask for is not hazardous and you remain in good standing with your temple.
