Members of the Ashen Pact swear the Ashen Oath, binding themselves to the Crimson Veil’s code of silence and loyalty. To break it is to court death by fire and shadow.

1 Blood Dagger. You were trained as a silent killer, specializing in assassination contracts.
2 Veilwatcher. A scout and spy, sent to track targets and report their weaknesses.
3 Coin Shade. You handled the Pact’s finances, laundering wealth through taverns, gambling halls, or smuggling.
4 Ashbinder’s Acolyte. You dabbled in the occult side of the Pact, learning rituals and whispers of fiendish pacts.
5 Crimson Vulture. A cleaner of corpses and crimes, ensuring no evidence pointed back to the Veil.
6 Whisper Tongue. You served as an informant and blackmailer, turning secrets into leverage.
7 Street Fang. A low-level thug or enforcer, running protection rackets and breaking knees for coin.
8 Maskbearer. An infiltrator skilled in disguise, able to wear any face while serving the Pact’s interests.
 
Feature: Rank Progression

Rank 1 – Silent Ash (Initiate)

  • Veil’s Whisper. Gain proficiency in Deception or Stealth (your choice). If already proficient, you gain expertise.

  • Ashen Mark. Leaving the Crimson Ash sigil grants you and your allies advantage on Intimidation checks for 24 hours in the same city.

Rank 2 – Ashen Blade (Enforcer)

  • Crimson Strike. Once per long rest, deal an extra 2d6 necrotic damage on a weapon attack.

  • Tools of the Trade. You have advantage on checks to craft or apply poisons.

Rank 3 – Veilborn (Elite)

  • Veil of Ash. Once per long rest, cloak yourself in drifting ash for 1 minute, gaining advantage on Stealth checks, and creatures have disadvantage on Perception checks to see you.

  • Mark of Fear. When you leave the Crimson Ash sigil, commoners and low-ranking NPCs who see it are frightened for 24 hours.

Rank 4 – Ashen Circle (Council)

  • Ashen Influence. You control a criminal network. You can smuggle goods, gather information, or set up safehouses in any city where the Pact is present.

  • Oathbound. You can bind one subordinate with an Ashen Oath, allowing you to sense their direction/distance. If they betray you, they take 2d10 psychic damage at dawn until released or dead.

Rank 5 – Veiled Lord/Lady (Leader)

  • Crimson Dominion. Once per long rest, you may command the Pact to: assassinate a low-level NPC, spread rumors across a city within 24 hours, or provide you and four allies safe shelter, disguises, and supplies for 1 week.

  • Ashen Apotheosis. You gain resistance to necrotic damage. When you reduce a creature to 0 HP, you wreathe yourself in crimson ash until the end of your next turn, gaining advantage on your next attack.
