(Oaths And Executioners) Executioner Image

Mercy, justice, or spectacle, to some, it makes no difference. To me, every stroke of the blade is a final truth. When I speak, even the guilty grow silent. I have looked into the eyes of a thousand dying men, and they have all seen the same thing staring back. I am not a murderer. I am the end of the line, the last face the guilty see, and the only one who remembers their names.

Ability Scores: Strength, Constitution, Wisdom

You may increase one ability score by 2 and another score by 1 or you may increase three ability scores by 1.

Feat: Hand of Judgment

Your divine calling binds you to the role of executioner, the duty of both judge and enforcer. You wield radiant authority and are attended by a spectral vulture that marks the condemned.

Features

Judgment Condor

  • You can perform a 10-minute ritual to summon your Judgment Condor, a radiant or spectral vulture bound to your soul.
  • It functions as a familiar using the find familiar spell, except:
    • It takes the form of a Small condor (celestial or undead — your choice).
    • It has Flyby (it doesn’t provoke opportunity attacks when it flies out of a creature’s reach).
    • When it uses the Help action to assist an ally’s attack, the target of that attack is wreathed in faint radiant light until the start of your next turn.
    • If the marked creature willingly moves more than 5 feet before your next turn, it takes 1d8 radiant damage.
    • You can resummon the condor if it dies by performing the ritual again.

Executioner’s Promise

  • You learn the Executioner’s Promise cantrip. It functions identically to booming blade, except:
    • It deals radiant damage instead of thunder damage.
    • The spell’s visual effect is a flash of judgmental light. A target marked by this spell has a radiant noose tied around their neck, tightening if they try to escape.
    • Your spellcasting ability for this cantrip is Strength, Wisdom, or Charisma (choose when you gain this feat).

Voice of Authority

  • When you speak a creature’s name as part of the casting of Executioner’s Promise or while commanding your Judgment Condor, your voice carries supernatural weight. You have advantage on Intimidation checks made against any creature that has taken radiant damage from you in the past minute.

Skill Proficiencies: You gain proficiency with Intimidation and Medicine. You know both how to end life swiftly, and how fragile it truly is.
Tool Proficiencies: You gain proficiency with a Poisoner’s Kit, ensuring that if the final blow doesn’t end them, it won’t be long.
Languages: One of your choice
Equipment: Executioner’s Blade, a thick, forward-weighted saber (1d10 slashing, Heavy, Two-Handed, Vex weapon mastery, requires Strength 15). This is your signature weapon, used for both ceremonial and battlefield executions.

Dark hood or veil, traditionally worn during executions; may be plain or inscribed with prayers, tally marks, or symbols of judgment.

Iron sigil of judgment, a badge, medallion, or token representing your authority and allegiance, often worn visibly on your clothing or weapon.

Set of manacles, practical for restraining the guilty before your final judgement.

Ledger of the condemned, a small book containing names, dates, real or imagined confessions of the executed, or left blank for future records.

Whetstone and oil cloth, for maintaining the Executioner’s Blade, reflecting the ritual care required by your calling.

Common clothes.

A pouch containing 20 gp.
