Revolutionary Image

You are set firmly against the ruling class of whatever nation you live in or have lived in. Your reasons are different from your comrades and allies. Maybe your family instilled firm beliefs against them when you were young. Maybe your friends were wronged or even killed by them. Maybe you were morally obligated to fight. Maybe the ruler is a tyrant. Maybe it was just advantageous for you to do so.

As an enemy of the state, you are familiar with the criminal underground. The dregs of society may not all fight with you, but they can usually respect or agree with you. Though there are lines you've refused to cross, whether it be for moral or ideological reasons, you've had to engage in unvirtuous acts at least a few times. You have gained skills either as a proud face of your movement, or a shadow that does the dirty work that doesn't need to be seen by the public so as to keep your organization in a good light to the common people.

Skill Proficiencies: Pick two from Athletics, Deception, History, Stealth, and Sleight of Hand.

Equipment: An insignia of your resistance movement (can be a piece of jewelry, a tattoo, a flag, etc.), commoner's clothes, and a pouch of 15 gp.

Revolutionary Role

Revolutions are not won by single people, but a wide coalition of likeminded individuals putting their skills to use to advance the cause. Grunts are well-rounded revolutionaries who help out others with whatever they need. Propagandists write, converse, and give speeches to persuade people on the fence to support their cause. Strategists plan out how to carefully and intentionally apply the revolution's resources to achieve its goals. Spies gather intelligence on the revolution's enemies. Soldiers provide protection to members of the revolution, appear where counterrevolutionary forces do in order to protect people, and launch attacks against those opposed to the revolution. Instigators ensure that, once actions are planned and supplied, they go off without a hitch. Financiers keep the whole operation running. Leaders keep everything organized.

Feature: Birds of a Feather

You can find help in the outcasts and like-minded in your society. If you are in an area where your revolution is taking or has taken place, NPCs that agree with your goals are likely to help you, giving you advantage on Charisma skill checks against them. If they are on the other side, however, they might see you as an ideological traitor, a threat to their revolution, or simply look upon you with suspicion, giving you disadvantage on Charisma skill checks against them. A successful Perception or Insight check with a DC equal to 10 + their Deception modifier can help you ascertain what side they're on. On a critical success, you can tell if they are genuine in their beliefs or if they are faking their support for whatever cause they rally behind.
