Delver Agent (Kiras Background) Image

You are an agent of a secret organization known as The Delvers.

In the world of Kiras, a discreet and dedicated secret organization known as The Delvers operates in the shadows, driven by a solitary, noble purpose: to locate, secure, and preserve rare magical items and dangerous relics from falling into malicious hands. They are a society committed to the stewardship of history, believing that all significant artifacts have a story to tell and deserve to be recorded for posterity. The decision to destroy an item, even a dangerous one, is made with great reluctance and after significant deliberation.

At the top of the organization sits the Trilateral, a council of three of the most experienced and magically attuned members. They are the supreme authority, debating the fate of recovered relics and setting the strategic direction for all operations. They are the only ones with a complete understanding of all ongoing operations and the full contents of their secret compound.

The Inner Circle is responsible for the day-to-day management of the Delvers' secret compound, a heavily warded facility known only as The Reliquary.  Within the reliquary there are the archivists and wardens.  Archivists are experts in cataloging, preserving, and stabilizing volatile magical items. They run the labs within The Reliquary, researching each item's history and ensuring it is safely secured.  They maintain the lexicon of symbols and the historical records of every recovered item.  Wardens act as handlers of Seekers, Delver agents.  They manage and coordinate all activities regarding current pursuits.

The agents in the field are known as Seekers or Delver Agents.  Agents are individuals of diverse backgrounds-scholars, thieves, warriors, and mages.  They are skilled at tracking down and recovering interested items.  They are often sent to scout locations or pursue leads.  They will be responsible for acquiring the item and securing its passage back to The Delvers.  This can sometimes just be handing it off to a Warden in the field.  Other times it may require bringing the item in to The Delver's Vault.

To maintain secrecy, The Delvers communicate using a sophisticated, ever-evolving lexicon of symbols, markers, and signs. This "Silent Tongue" allows agents to communicate without arousing suspicion from the uninitiated.  This may be as simple as a chalk symbol marking a location, hand gestures to other Delvers, or as complex as a ciphered message.

Delver Resources:

Your organization, contacts, and training has given you advantages in and out of the field.  Your access to the Delver's archives provides a way to research the history, lore, and function of most items and relics, including curses and their removal.  In the field you can recognize markings of the Silent Tongue.  Sometimes these mark safe locations, supply caches, or dangers.  Lastly, with proven loyalty and success in the field, you may be granted access to a black market of minor magical items or consumables like potions or scrolls.
